COUNTY CLERK JOINS VFW POST NO. 3350 AWARD CEREMONY

(Mineola, NY)  Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell recently joined members of The Robert F. Garrison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3350 in East Rockaway to celebrate their being named a Veterans of Foreign Wars National Outstanding Community Service Award recipient for 2012.  A plaque commemorating this special designation was unveiled in front of the Post along Main Street.  This distinguished honor is only given to a select number of VFW Posts nationwide every year.  Members of the East Rockaway VFW exemplify the true spirit of this award through the exceptional commitment of time and effort they put forth each and every day on behalf of not only fellow Veterans and their families, but also in serving the community at large.  The VFW’s impact on the community in helping to build a better America can be seen throughout East Rockaway and is a testament to all their good works.

County Clerk O’Connell was honored to speak at the unveiling ceremony to express her great appreciation to Commander Joe McCarthy and all the members for their continued outstanding dedication and service to the community.  Joined by other area officials she presented the Post with a County Citation to mark this wonderful event.
