COUNTY CLERK ATTENDS MASSAPEQUA GIRL SCOUTS PETER SCHMITT MEMORIAL

(Mineola, NY) The Massapequa Association of Girl Scouts recently held a memorial service in honor of Legislator Peter Schmitt who passed away last year.   Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell, along with other area officials, joined the Schmitt family and the Massapequa Association of Girl Scouts to remember this outstanding individual for his dedication, commitment and service to his community.  Legislator Schmitt who represented the 12th legislative district in Nassau County, which included Massapequa, Massapequa Park and North Massapequa was always an ardent supporter of the Massapequa Girl Scouts.  He had lived in the Massapequa area since 1974 and was elected to the Legislature in 1995 when it was first created representing the 12th district ever since.  Schmitt served as the Legislature’s Deputy Presiding Officer from 1996 to 1999.  The Girl Scouts memorial was a moving tribute to Legislator Schmitt and all he has done for the Massapequa community.
