Irish American Society Brings Parade to Mineola 

The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk & Queens will be celebrating their 62nd Annual St. Patrick’s Parade on Sunday, March 4, 2012 and its new route through Mineola.  The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. on Old Country Road at County Seat Drive traveling west then turning north onto Mineola Boulevard to Jericho Turnpike where it will head east ending in front of Mineola Fire Department.  Betty McLoughlin will serve as Grand Marshal.  Following the parade, festivities will continue at the Irish American Society at 297 Willis Avenue in Mineola.

The Society held the Grand Marshal Dinner Dance where they were joined by area officials to begin the celebration leading up to the parade.  Pictured from left to right are State Assemblyman David McDonough, Eddie Friel of Irish Americans in Government, Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell, President Patrick Kerins of the Irish American Society, Grand Marshal Betty McLoughlin, Donal Mahoney of Irish Americans in Government, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, Deputy Comptroller Joy Watson, Grand Marshal Aide Jeff Clark and Ellen McCormick of Irish Americans in Government.
