County Clerk O’Connell Speaks to

Long Island Board of Realtors

(Mineola, NY)   Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell was recently the quest speaker at the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) and Long Island Chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors breakfast.  Clerk O’Connell informed the membership about a recently enacted law known as the “Commission Escrow Act”, which enables real estate brokers to have their commission placed in an escrow account with the County Clerk.  When a broker’s services are completed, but the commission is not paid at the time of closing, the broker can file an affidavit with the County Clerk.  Clerk O’Connell explained the process of filing the affidavit and having the appropriate funds deposited into escrow with the Clerk’s Office.  Anyone interested in more information on this law can contact Clerk O’Connell’s office at 516-571-2664.
