Maragos appoints Joseph G. Gonzal, CPA of Garden City to

Comptroller’s Audit Advisory Committee

Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos today announced the appointment of Joseph G. Gonzal, to the Audit Advisory Committee. Mr. Gonzal is a New York State Certified Public Accountant, currently owns and operates an accounting, auditing, and tax firm in Garden City, and has previously worked for Ernst & Young as an audit supervisor.

"“Mr. Gonzal’s addition will immediately provide a small business owner’s perspective and voice on County policy and financial oversight,” Comptroller Maragos said. “We owe a great deal of thanks to volunteers like Mr. Gonzal and to the rest of the Audit Advisory Committee’s members for the invaluable service they provide to all taxpayers.”

Mr. Gonzal’s firm provides pro-bono work for local community service organizations & individuals as well as preparing tax returns for low income families at affordable rates. Currently, he is a Board Member of the Club Civico Cubano and a member of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Mr. Gonzal was a member of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gonzal graduated from Baruch College with a B.B.A. in Accounting and currently lives in Nassau with his wife Suzanne Saramak-Gonzal.

"The Audit Advisory Committee is an all volunteer group which was established to advise and assist the Comptroller's office in its internal control and audit responsibilities.” Comptroller Maragos added. “This committee has been an important resource since its creation in 2003 and is made up of business, education and government leaders from Nassau County.”
