Mangano Announces Auction of 92 Surplus County Vehicles

Auctions International

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced the kick off of an online auction of County vehicles and equipment to the highest bidder as part of the County’s inventory management program. The auction, run by Auctions International, features 92 County-owned vehicles, including surplus cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, tractors, dump trucks, and police cruisers.

“This is a great opportunity for local governments, contractors and the general public to purchase equipment and vehicles,” said County Executive Mangano. “At the same time, by auctioning these surplus vehicles, the County is able to recoup expenses while streamlining our fleet.”

Nassau County vehicles are auctioned as surplus when it costs more to maintain them than they are worth, have been badly damaged, or can no longer serve a purpose in County government.

Anyone interested in finding out more information about the vehicles being auctioned off, or would like to bid, can go to www.auctionsinternational.com. The auction ends on July 8, 2010.
