Mangano Urges Businesses To Join MTA Payroll Tax Revolt

Calls on Employers to Voice Frustration When Paying MTA Payroll Tax Tomorrow

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today urged all Nassau County businesses to let the MTA know how they feel about the MTA Payroll Tax when they meet the deadline to pay the job-killing tax tomorrow, September 30th.

"Let the State Legislature and MTA President Jay Walder know that you are tired of being forced to pay the MTA this oppressive tax by including a letter or note with your payment," said Mangano. "This tax has done nothing but tax employers at a time when they could be putting people back to work.”

Earlier this year, Mangano filed suit against the MTA and State Legislature to end the job-killing payroll tax for its unconstitutional taxation.  In August, Mangano called for the immediate resignation of Walder in the face of the MTA's service cuts, including the threat to eliminate funding for LI Bus.

"The MTA has done nothing but fritter away our tax dollars on bloated management," said Mangano. "It is perhaps one of the most egregious abuses of taxpayer dollars ever in this great State."
