Mangano to Activate Non-Emergency Hotline

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch with the possibility of tornadoes for this evening. Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano will activate the County’s Non-Emergency Hotline beginning tonight at 6:00 p.m. Residents with non-life threatening emergencies can call 888-684-4274 for assistance. All those with life threatening emergencies should call 911.

All County evening events have been canceled including the mosquito control public forum that was scheduled to be held at the Freeport Public Library, along with visiting hours at the Nassau County Correctional Center.

“The lines of communication in Nassau County are open,” said County Executive Mangano. “We want to ensure that every resident is safe, and we are made aware of any situation that could create danger in the community.”

“Residents are urged to use caution. Our County workforce will be working hard to keep the streets safe, and you can help by keeping cars off the road,” said County Executive Mangano. “Please review your sheltering plan and locate your battery operated radios in advance should you lose power.”
