Mangano Highlights Economic Impact Of NY Giants Advancing To Super Bowl XLVI

Honors Former NY Giants Super Bowl Champion Sean Landeta to Commemorate 25th Anniversary of NY Giants First Super Bowl Victory Mangano with former Giants kicker

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano was today joined by former NY Giant and local Nassau County resident Sean Landeta as he discussed the economic impact of the NY Giants advancing to Super Bowl XLVI and commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the first New York Giants Super Bowl victory. Landeta, who won two Super Bowl championship rings while playing for the NY Giants in Super Bowl XXI in 1987 and Super Bowl XXV in 1991, reflected on his career and the benefit a Super Bowl championship provides to the region. According to CNBC analysts, each person will spend a net average of nearly $60 on the Super Bowl.

“The Super Bowl is big business, even if it’s not being played in the tri-state area,” said County Executive Mangano. “This matchup is as good as it gets from a Super Bowl retail merchandise and restaurant perspective. Fans will buy everything from food and beverages to new televisions, furniture, team paraphernalia and decorations. It’s a good shot in the arm for our economy.”

Former NY Giant Sean Landeta added, “This year’s rematch of one of the most exciting Super Bowls in recent memory. When these teams met in 2008 with the title on the line, the Giants upset the Patriots to claim their third Super Bowl championship and end the Patriots’ undefeated season. I predict a New York victory is on the horizon.”

To applaud the NY Giants for advancing to Super Bowl XLVI, the Nassau County Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building will be lit blue and red, beginning Wednesday, January 25, 2012 and ending on the evening of Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2012.
