Mangano Announces Economic Development Compact For The NPD Group That Creates 60 New Jobs

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) approved an economic development compact that will allow The NPD Group to undertake an $8 million renovation of its Port Washington headquarters. The action is expected to result in the creation of 50 new construction jobs and an additional 10 high-paying permanent full-time jobs in Nassau County within three years.

“The NPD Group is one of Nassau County’s premier businesses and the kind of company we hope to keep and attract to Nassau County,” said Nassau County Executive Mangano. “Long Island has lost too many jobs to other states. My administration and the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency are working tirelessly to retain employers and keep jobs in Nassau County.”

“NPD is a marquee company that is expanding rapidly, but it’s outgrown its current space and the ability to efficiently service its clients,” said Joseph Kearney, executive director of the Nassau IDA. “Our participation in this project ensures that new jobs created by NPD will be located in Nassau County and not at one of the company’s other locations in the United States or in Ireland, where costs are lower.”

NPD, one of the nation’s leading market research firms, has proposed alterations to its 117,000-square-foot headquarters at 900 W. Shore Rd, Port Washington, that include a new entrance and expansion of the company’s information technology center. NPD currently has 545 full-time-equivalent employees. The project is expected to be completed by September 2013.
