Mangano And Heroin Prevention Task Force Announce Drug Recovery Conference

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, along with District Attorney Kathleen Rice and members of the Nassau County Heroin Prevention Task Force Treatment Committee, present Pathways to Recovery: Guiding the Journey, a conference on Friday, November 15th from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The conference, applicable to both professionals in the field and people in recovery, will focus on the various paths available to those seeking recovery from drug addiction and includes workshops on achieving and sustaining recovery.

County Executive Mangano stated,“Through education, awareness and enforcement, my administration and Heroin Prevention Task Force are diligently combatting drug abuse in Nassau County. This drug recovery conference will truly help those who are willing to find a way to recover, sustain recovery and go on to become productive members of society.”

Workshops are designed to provide helpful and important information as well as guidance for individuals and families during the recovery process.Workshop topics include Integration of Peer Services for Better Outcomes, Technology as a Recovery Tool, Housing and Vocational Services, Sober Living and Medication Supported Recovery. The conference will also feature a speaker who is currently in the recovery process and offer participants hands-on Narcan training to assist participants in saving lives.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30am at the Morrelly Homeland Security Center, 510 Grumman Road West, Bethpage. There is a $20 cash only fee at the door, which includes continental breakfast and lunch.
