Mangano & Carney Recognize

National Nurses Week – May 6-12, 2011

Mineola, NY – In recognition of National Nurses Week, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Nassau County Department of Health would like thank all the dedicated nurses throughout Nassau County who work every day to protect and promote the health of our residents.

Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of Nursing as a modern profession. This week is set aside each year to give special recognition to nurses, raise awareness of the value of nursing and to help educate the public about the vital role nurses play in the health care field.  In Nassau County, nurses provide compassionate care in hospitals, doctor’s offices, home care, school based clinics and public health.

“In honor of National Nurses Week, I would like to thank all the dedicated nurses throughout Nassau County who provide invaluable services which protect the health of and safety of the residents of Nassau County,” said County Executive Edward Mangano.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all the nurses in Nassau County”, said Commissioner of Health Maria Torroella Carney, M.D., F.A.C.P.  “I applaud the over forty nurses at the Nassau County Department of Health who provide dedicated and caring services to the residents of Nassau County.”

“Please join me this week in honoring Nassau County nurses for their professional and dedicated service” said Mangano.
