Beach Closings

Four Nassau County Beaches Closed to Bathing

Due to heavy rainfall, Nassau County Department of Health has closed Piping Rock Beach Club in Lattingtown and North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington as a precautionary measure, effective today, June 17, 2011. Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels used to assess bathing water quality.

In addition, Laurel Hollow Beach in Laurel Hollow and The Creek Club in Locust Valley remain closed to bathing due to elevated bacterial levels.
