Beaches Closed to Bathing

Uniondale, NY -Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 18 beaches to bathing as a precautionary measure, effective today, July 1, 2013. Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels and affecting bathing water quality.

13 North Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Centre Island Sound

Creek Club

Lattingtown Beach

Morgan Sound

North Hempstead Beach Park

Piping Rock Beach Club

Prybil Beach

Ransom Beach

Roosevelt Beach

Sea Cliff Village Beach

Soundside Beach

Stehli Beach

Tappen Beach

and

5 South Shore Beaches within Nassau County:

Biltmore Beach Club

Hewlett Point Beach

Island Park Beach

Merrick Estates Civic Association

Philip Healey Beach

In addition, Laurel Hollow Beach remains closed to bathing due to elevated bacterial levels.
