Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead) congratulated gold medal Summer Olympian Derrick Adkins who won the 400-meter hurdles event at the 1996 Summer Olympics by naming a portion of the County Road known as Woodfield Road between Lakeview and Hempstead Avenues to “Derrick Adkins Road.”

“I’ve known Derrick Adkins since I’ve been in office,” Legislator Kevan Abrahams said. “Every year I support his tournament, the Derrick Adkins Classic, that benefits the students of Nassau County, and I always thought we at the Nassau County Legislature should applaud him for how much he’s given to the community.”
