NEWS from the City of Long Beach

SNOWFLAKE SAVINGS!! SHOP LONG BEACH FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!

The City of Long Beach and Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford have joined together to invite local retailers to participate in a holiday event that will draw residents and non-residents to shop in Long Beach for all of their holiday needs AND receive special discounts.

“The City has a multitude of restaurants, shops, boutiques and other businesses that offer essential items and services for family and home,” said City Manager Charles T. Theofan. “Why fight traffic to overcrowded malls when we have all of these merchants right here in Long Beach?”

For the “Snowflake Savings” holiday promotion, all businesses have to do is pledge to offer discounts to customers for four Saturdays, November 27 through December 18. The discount is up to them… It could be a 20% markdown on merchandise; two dinners for the price of one; price cuts on salon services or specially priced holiday menus – or any deal that they decide on for their particular business.

City Council President Thomas R. Sofield said, “The City will help support businesses and encourage the community to shop locally by offering free bus transportation to all shopping areas in the City on those dates.”

Additionally, the City will permit sidewalk sales, install extra holiday lighting and decorations in all shopping areas, and provide participating stores with a “Shop Long Beach Snowflake” symbol to proudly display in the windows.

There will be a storefront window display contest, with shoppers casting their votes for the best dressed holiday windows. Be sure to vote for your favorite before Friday, December 17 at info@longbeachny.org. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winners!

The SNOWFLAKE with the City logo means a savings for you!
