An Important Safety Reminder from Legislator Denise Ford

It’s Hurricane Season on Long Island. As we enter the start of Hurricane Season every Long Islander should be asking themselves one important question: “If catastrophe struck here, would my family be ready?”

If not, you should start preparing today by gathering the basic emergency supplies that your family will need to weather a major storm. Keep in mind that when preparing for a possible emergency situation, it’s best to think about the basics of survival – fresh water, food and warmth – and consider the special needs of your family members.

Planning ahead can protect more than your property – it can save lives. That’s why I am trying to raise awareness about the importance of every family having a hurricane preparedness kit in their home.

Plan ahead to protect you and your family, don’t wait until the last minute to get ready.
