Legislator Muscarella Urges Women to Participate in Mother’s Day Mammography Campaign

Nassau County Legislator Vincent T. Muscarella (R-West Hempstead) is urging all women to participate in the Mother’s Day “Peace of Mind” Breast Cancer Campaign. Adelphi University’s School of Social Work has established a state-wide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program where women and their loved ones can receive free information about the dangers of breast cancer and the importance of having an annual mammography. “Adelphi University is providing a wonderful service for women to receive vital information regarding their health. Breast Cancer is a serious disease that can be treated successfully if caught early. A mammography is the first line of defense and I urge all women who need information to give the hotline a call,” said Legislator Muscarella.

The Director of the program, Hillary Rutter noted, “Women needlessly suffer from anxiety that they have breast cancer. Peace of mind is a great gift and it can be achieved simply by having an annual mammography.” The program has been providing free services to women all over New York State for 24 years. “I applaud Ms. Rutter, her staff, and Adelphi University for this tremendous resource they provide to the residents of New York State,” added Legislator Muscarella. To contact the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, please call toll free, 1-800-877-8077 or information can be obtained on their website, www.adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer.
