March 27, 2000 LEGISLATOR NICOLELLO OFFERING BROCHURE ON INTERNET SAFETY FOR CHILDREN
Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park) is offering to residents an informational pamphlet from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) related to protecting children from those who would seek to take advantage of them over the Internet. "Today's children have access to a wide range of information over the Internet. As a parent, however, I share concerns that there are those on the Internet who seek to take advantage of our young people," said Legislator Nicolello. "While we should encourage the appropriate use of the Internet, we must also be vigilant in protecting our children who use this valuable resource." The informational pamphlet, A Parent's Guide to Internet Safety, developed by the FBI, provides parents with helpful hints, practical suggestions and ways to identify warning signs. Residents interested in receiving a copy of the pamphlet should call Legislator Nicolello's office at 571-6209. The Guide is also available on the FBI's internet site: www.fbi.gov. |
