Food & Drink Distribution Locations, Shelters, Warming Centers

and Shower Facilities in Nassau County

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced that the County, FEMA, the Salvation Army and the Red Cross are distributing food and drinks to thousands of residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy. LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DAILY. County Shelters and Warming Centers remain open to the public.

RED CROSS FOOD DISTRIBUTION

The Red Cross has opened a number of meal distribution centers Nassau County. Locations are open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Meals, water, and comfort kits will be distributed at the following locations.

FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Centers:

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are a readily accessible mobile office where applicants may go to receive guidance regarding disaster recovery, clarification of any written correspondence received, Housing Assistance and Rental Resource information, resolutions to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance, status of applications being processed by FEMA, as well as U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) program information.

INSURANCE RESOURCE CENTER:

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, in partnership with New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, have made the New York State Department of Financial Services available at Cedar Creek Park daily from 8:00 a.m to 11:00 p.m. to offer residents advice on how to file an insurance claim for property damage from Hurricane Sandy. Representatives will also be present from several of the nation’s largest insurance companies, including: Allstate, Metlife, New York Life, Travelers, and USAA.
