Jacobs forms commission to examine revenue-producing ideas

Mineola, NY-The Nassau County Legislature's Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) today announced the formation of a new commission that will gather revenue-producing ideas for the county and issue its findings to the Legislature.

The Revenue Generation and Economic Development Commission will consist of 18 members appointed by Presiding Officer Jacobs. The commission's mission will be to hold numerous forums throughout the county, gathering input from community members and finally, to generate a report by December 31, 2003 on its findings.

"The formation of this commission will give the communities at large an opportunity to input their best ideas on how to produce revenue for Nassau County," said Jacobs. "The citizens of Nassau County are some of the most well educated and informed in the nation and I have confidence that they will be both innovative and creative. I look forward to the input from the commission."

Jacobs has asked fellow legislators for suggestions for members to be named to the commission, and plans to name the members by early February.
