County to install stop sign at legislators’ urging
Jacobs & Yatauro: ‘Pedestrians will now be safer in front of Oyster Bay senior center.’

Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) and Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) moved quickly after several Oyster Bay senior citizens contacted them concerning a dangerous crosswalk in front of the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center on East Street. After visiting the site, the legislators referred the case to Nassau County Department of Public Works officials, who conducted an investigation.

“I am pleased to report that the County’s Traffic Engineering Department has determined that this site qualifies for several safety enhancements, including stop signs, other supplementary signs and crosswalk markings,” said Jacobs.

“The signs and road markings will be installed as soon as possible,” said Yatauro. “I commend the County’s Department of Public Works for responding to our concerns so quickly.”

For more information, call Legislator Jacobs’ office at 516-571-6216 or Legislator Yatauro’s office at 516-571-6218.
