Did you know that it’s your right to file a formal legal grievance challenging the amount of your  property tax assessment? In January, you will receive a “Notice of Tentative Assessment for 2013/2014” from the County Assessment Department indicating the tentative assessed value of your property.  If you believe that the value for your property is not accurate, you may file an appeal with the Assessment Review Commission (ARC) between January 2, 2012 and March 1, 2012.   The application for appeal is available and can be obtained on-line at www.nassaucountyny.gov/arc, in person at the Department of Assessment’s office located at 240 Old Country Road in Mineola, or by calling (516) 571-1500.
