Legislator was nominated by Senator Hillary Clinton
Mineola, NY - Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead) has been selected as an international political exchange delegate for the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL). Abrahams had been nominated for the position several months ago by U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Legislator Abrahams will be traveling to Turkey to participate in an intense two-week study tour that is solely designed to expose emerging political leaders in the U.S. and abroad to different types of governmental entities and cultures. Abrahams will be in Turkey November 29-December 10. "As a young leader, I gladly welcome any opportunity to participate in an experience that fosters long-term personal and professional relationships," said Legislator Abrahams. "I am grateful to Senator Clinton for submitting my name as a participant. This exchange program would afford me a unique opportunity to learn about diverse cultures and governmental systems." The American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) is a bipartisan, non-profit educational exchange organization dedicated to fostering relations between the next generation of political leaders in the United States and their counterparts around the world. Its practical education programs include international exchanges, foreign policy and democracy conferences and election study programs. Each year ACYPL sends young Americans (age 25-40) on political study tours abroad and organizes reciprocal visits to the United States.
