GOP COUNTY LEGISLATORS FORGE FISCAL PLAN THAT REDUCES DEFICIT BY $108 MILLION OVER TWO YEARS
Spending Cuts - Employee Reduction - Efficiencies Achieved
Keeping to their commitment to cut government spending, Republican County Legislators working with Democratic County Legislators forged a bipartisan agreement that cuts spending, provides incentives to reduce the number of county employees and achieves various management efficiencies.
"Many of the proposals that the Republican delegation made in March with respect to putting the County in good fiscal health were contained in the final agreement," said Minority Leader Peter Schmitt (R-Massapequa). "I am pleased that we have been able to produce an agreement that reduces the County's deficit by $108 million over the next two years."
