June 13, 2000 LEGISLATOR NICOLELLO URGES ALL RESIDENTS TO ATTEND MOSQUITO CONTROL FORUM ON JUNE 20
Nassau County Legislator Richard J. Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park) has helped to arrange a program on Mosquito Control and the West Nile virus. The forum, hosted by the Villages of Williston Park and East Williston, will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. in the American Legion Hall, located at 730 Willis Avenue, Williston Park. According to Legislator Nicolello, the program is being hosted by the Villages of Williston Park and East Williston, and is intended to provide the public with the most current West Nile virus information available from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Nassau County Health Department. Nassau County Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Gaffney will be on hand to respond to questions and to detail the Mosquito Control Program undertaken by the Health Department. This program involves a call for all residents to join in efforts against the threat of the West Nile virus. "It is my understanding", said Legislator Nicolello, "that a major portion of the Health Department's efforts continue to involve aggressive preventative measures that will, hopefully, decrease the number of mosquitoes that are present this season. To this end, we all, as residents, will do well to learn just what steps we can take on our own properties to discourage mosquito breeding sites." "Mayor Joseph F. Connelly of Williston Park, and Mayor Nancy Zolezzi of East Williston have done an outstanding job structuring this timely and informative program and I hope all residents will consider attending," added the Legislator. |
