LEGISLATOR NICOLELLO PARTICIPATES IN OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION HEARING
Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park), Ranking Member of the Legislature's Planning, Development and Environment Committee participated in a public hearing to take testimony from the public regarding Nassau County's draft Open Space Plan. Legislator Nicolello spearheaded the Legislature's creation of the Open Space Plan. The draft Plan makes several recommendations including: the formal establishment of an Open Space Committee; the establishment of a County Land Trust; greater Interagency Coordination; and, the establishment of formal evaluation criteria to evaluate open space. It was under Legislator Nicolello's leadership that Nassau County completed its first Master Plan in 1999.
