April 18, 2001 GOP LEGISLATORS SUBMIT LEGISLATION REQUIRING STATE OF COUNTY ADDRESS
(Mineola, NY) County Legislator and Minority Leader Peter J. Schmitt (R-Massapequa) on behalf of his Republican colleagues has filed local legislation requiring the County Executive to appear before the Legislature prior to March 15 of each year to present a State of the County Address. "The residents of our County deserve to hear from their County Executive regarding his/her goals for the upcoming year and beyond," said Legislator Schmitt. "This legislation will require the County Executive to appear before the Legislature and formally present a State of the County Address to the citizens of the County." For the past two years the County Executive has not presented a State of the County Address before the Legislature. "We believe that past Addresses have been helpful to the residents and the members of the Legislature to understand the goals and objectives of the Administration. This legislation will help facilitate that process," concluded Legislator Schmitt. |
