Jacobs announces ways residents may show support for our troops

Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) recently announced a few options for showing support for our troops, which have been suggested by Edward Aulman, Director of the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency.

One way to help is to volunteer. Nassau County has a role for volunteers at the office of emergency management. Those interested may call Jennifer Mincin at 516-571-9642. The Red Cross needs organizations to sign-up for by-county shelter plan training 516-747-3500. For individuals interested in assisting in homeland defense activities can join the American Volunteer Reserves. To sign up log onto www.amervolres.org. For more information on how to help, or if you know of someone who has lost a family member overseas, please call Ed Aulman at 516-572-8452.

There are also a few rallies in the coming weeks where people may go to show support for the servicemen and servicewomen.
