Mineola, NY - Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) has been named by the Long Island Press as one of the "movers and shakers" of Long Island. Honorees are chosen by the Press' editorial staff and publishers. The list of 50 consists of a wide variety of contributors to the island's growth and prosperity, ranging from elected officials to musicians. "I'm honored to be named to the Long Island Press's power list," said Legislator Jacobs, "and I am always mindful of the trust the voters have placed in me." According to the Press, those selected for the honor have exhibited "hard work and dedication to their ideals," and "have never failed to pique the curiosity of those interested in knowing more about the people who shape the landscape of their home." Presiding Officer Jacobs is serving her fifth term as a Nassau County Legislator, representing the 16th Legislative District and her third term as the Presiding Officer. The Long Island Press will be presenting all 50 Powerful People in its March 25, 2004 issue. |
