Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) has been named Women of the Year by the Long Island Branches of the American Association of University Women.

"I am very honored to receive this recognition from an organization that supports higher education for women and applauds their accomplishments," said Jacobs.

Jacobs will be the honored guest at an AAUW fundraiser on March 31 at the Westbury Manor. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Educational Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund of the AAUW, which supports graduate education for women and promotes pay and benefits equity.
