Urges Residents to Protect Themselves from Internet Danger Mineola, NY – Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead), has joined with New York State Senator Charles Schumer in urging residents to visit a new website aimed at keeping our communities and our personal information safe. In an effort to protect consumers and businesses, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently developed a website, www.ftc.gov/infosecurity, to help individuals and organizations safeguard their personal information. The website is updated regularly and provide pertinent information useful to all computer users, from children to business people. “The internet
can be utilized as a magnificent tool for educational and business purposes;
however, it can also be dangerous tool when utilized by a hacker or cyber
terrorist”, stated Legislator Abrahams. “It is extremely important
for everyone to take preventative measures in shielding their personal
information by only permitting authorized trafficking through their computer
