Jacobs encourages not-for-profits to seek Verizon Foundation grants

Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) announced today that many not-for-profit organizations might be eligible to receive grants up to $100,000 from the Verizon Foundation to upgrade technology and the skill level of their workforce.

Grant money is open to any not-for-profit that offers new, or existing, programs to improve the skills of their workforce. The one-time grant, ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 based on strength of the proposals, may be awarded to any organization within Verizon's landline service territory.

"This is a good opportunity for local not-for-profits and companies with the intention of upgrading their technology and the skill level of their workforce to do so with financial aid," said Presiding Officer Jacobs.

The goal of the Verizon Foundation is to support projects that focus on technology training, job retention, mentoring and coaching, and collaboration with other community resources.

The Verizon Foundation is currently accepting online applications at www.verizon.com/foundation. To apply use the code 2284Q8GKA1. The application deadline is midnight on Monday, May 5.
