June 1, 2000 Jacobs announces Medical Center's Prostate Cancer Screening Program
Nassau County Legislator and Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) urges men 50 and older to take advantage of the Nassau County Medical Center's free prostate cancer screening program at the Nassau County Medical Center. "In cases where prostate cancer is detected, nine out of 10 men survive," Jacobs said, "that is why an annual exam and early detection are so vital." If you are an African-American, or have a family history of prostate cancer, testing should begin at the age of 40. As a service to Nassau County residents, the Nassau County Medical Center offers a free, prostate cancer screening examination, with no out of pocket expense to the patient. Call 572-5381 to schedule an appointment. For an informative pamphlet about the warning signs, risk factors and treatment of prostate cancer call Legislator Jacob's office at 571-6216. |
