March 27, 2000 LEGISLATOR BECKER OFFERING BROCHURE ON INTERNET SAFETY FOR CHILDREN
Nassau County Legislator Fran Becker (R-Lynbrook) is offering to residents an informational pamphlet from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) related to protecting children from those who would seek to take advantage of them over the Internet. "Today's children have access to a wide range of information over the Internet. As a parent I share concerns that there are those on the Internet that seek to take advantage of our young people," said Legislator Becker. "While we admonish our children not to speak to strangers, this could be happening in our very homes over the Internet." The informational pamphlet, A Parent's Guide to Internet Safety, developed by the FBI, provides parents with helpful hints, practical suggestions and what warning signs to look for. Residents interested in receiving of a copy of the pamphlet should call Legislator Becker's office at 571-6206. The Guide is also available on the FBI's internet site: www.fbi.gov. |
