LEGISLATOR BECKER REMINDS RESIDENTS
OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

County Legislator Francis X. Becker (R-Lynbrook) is reminding residents that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"I am proud to support Nassau County's breast cancer awareness and early detection program," said Legislator Becker. "I urge all women to take advantage of a program that saves lives."

Nassau County through the Nassau University Medical Center offers mammography services to women at "no out of pocket expense". If you have insurance or covered by Medicare or Medicaid that is accepted by the Medical Center as payment. If you are underinsured or have no insurance you are able to utilize the service as well. Residents wishing to make an appointment for this life saving program should do so by calling 572-5700.

"I have also been proud to sponsor the Medical Center's mobile mammography unit in my Legislative District to bring this service into our home communities," said Legislator Becker. "Early detection saves lives - please take advantage of this important community service."

Residents interested in further information about the County's breast cancer awareness programs can do so by logging on to the County's web site at: www.nassaucountyny.gov
