Swimming Pool Safety a Priority

County Legislator Norma Gonsalves (R-East Meadow) is reminding residents that swimming pool safety must be a priority. "All it takes is just a few seconds for a child to drown," said Legislator Gonsalves. "I urge all residents to take the following precautions as outlined by the Department of Health".

DON'T:
  • Leave children unattended, not even for a few seconds, not to answer the phone, not to answer the door, not to get something, not for anything!
DO:
  • Make sure you pool is fenced around all 4 sides and locked
  • Make sure an adult is always present and watching
  • Make sure a phone is located near the pool
  • Learn CPR
More information on injury prevention programs is available by calling the Nassau County Department of Health Office of Injury Prevention at 571-3737.
