LEGISLATOR GONSALVES OFFERING BROCHURE ON INTERNET SAFETY FOR CHILDREN
Nassau County Legislator Norma Gonsalves (R-East Meadow) is offering to residents an informational pamphlet from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) related to protecting children from those who would seek to take advantage of them over the Internet.
"Today's children have access to a wide range of information over the Internet. As a parent, I share concerns that there are those on the Internet that seek to take advantage of our young people," said Legislator Gonsalves. "While we admonish our children not to speak to strangers, this could be happening in our very homes over the Internet."
The informational pamphlet, A Parent's Guide to Internet Safety, developed by the FBI, provides parents with helpful hints, practical suggestions and ways to identify warning signs. Residents interested in receiving a copy of the pamphlet should call Legislator Gonsalves' office at 571-6213. The Guide is also available on the FBI's internet site: www.fbi.gov.
