          • Bring valid ID and know social security number
          • Minimum weight 110 lbs.
          • Age 17 - 76
          • Eat well (low fat) & drink fluids
          • No tattoos for past 12 months

National statistics have proven that one in three people will require a transfusion at some point in their life, yet far too few people donate in our community. The local donor participation rate is less than 2% versus the nationwide average of 5%. The result is periodic blood shortages in some communities, such as Long Island. Since there is no substitute for human blood, we can look only to ourselves to meet this challenge.
