Nassau County Presiding Officer
Judy Jacobs (Woodbury) has invited Chairman Harvey
Levinson and the Nassau County Office of Assessment
to conduct an informative workshop instructing homeowners
how to challenge the assessed value of their property.  The
meeting will explain the method used in assessing property,
how to compute property taxes, the senior and exemption
laws as well as the many other functions of the Assessment
Department. Residents will be provided with assessment
grievance application packets and assistance in filling
them out. The deadline for filing a grievance is March
                          1, 2006.

“Although the Tax Assessment Department is a separate part of government,
I have asked the Tax Assessment Department to bring their expertise to the
people in the 16th district so that each and every homeowner may have the opportunity
to save on their taxes,” said Jacobs.
