Abrahams Guest Speaker at Teen Leadership Summit


On January 8, 2011 Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead) attended the Nassau County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America’s 3rd Annual Teen Leadership Summit held at SUNY Old Westbury College. The theme of this year’s summit was “Motivating Youth to Lead & Succeed”.


The one-day program included workshops, career exploration sessions, a “Dress for Success” fashion show and a “College Life- The Real Deal” panel featuring current college students. Legislator Abrahams was one of the featured guest speakers at the summit. He spoke to the students on various topics including money and time management, preparing for college and interviewing skills. Legislator Abrahams gave a detailed presentation on how to pursue a career in government and make a difference in your home town community. The program also included Parent Workshops with topics such as Financial Resources for College, Communicating with Your Teen, Choosing a College and others.
