Legislator Ford Honors Long Beach Student Who Saved Friend

Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford Honored Long Beach Middle School Student Miriam Starobin at the Nassau County Legislative Session on May 17th. Miriam who used the Heimlich Maneuver to save her friend Allyson Golden’s life, during music class, crediting an episode of “SpongeBob Square Pants”.

“Your recollection of the Spongebob episode highlighting the Heimlich is extraordinary, but even more so was your ability to calmly apply your knowledge when another student was in need. That is Heroism”, said Legislator Ford.
