Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) attended the 2011 Law & Order Awards Night sponsored by the American Legion at the Charles Wagner Post #421 in Hicksville, New York. The emotional evening included the remembrance of Charles Wagner Legionnaires who passed away in 2010; a law and order award to Police Officer Matthew McCartin of the Second Precinct in Woodbury; a law and order award to Police Officer Lawrence Gilicia of the Eighth Precinct; and various other awards such as the Medal of Merit; Meritorious service awards; and Certificates of Honor; as well as membership awards. Jacobs said, “This is always a time of reflection and pride and a beautiful evening where our devoted veterans take the time to honor our Police officers and Fire District members.” The evening also included a final tribute to Nassau County Police Commissioner on the occasion of his retirement.
