Jacobs Announces Road Improvement Plans for the 16th District in 2007 Capital Budget

Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) joined with Majority lawmakers this week in approving the $202 million capital improvement plan for 2007. The funds will go towards the improvement of the county’s infrastructure, including parks, roads, and public safety.

“By investing money in things that will improve the community, we are investing in our future,” Jacobs said.“We cannot allow the infrastructure of this County to deteriorate.Capital improvements are imperative to the quality of life our residents enjoy.”

The 16th legislative district will see several capital improvements, including the re-surfacing of several roads, various improvements to the Fire Service Academy, the rehabilitation of Jackson Avenue in Syosset, and a new pumping station in Storm Water Basin 590.

The roadways being resurfaced are:

 

  • Woodbury Road in Woodbury from Syosset Woodbury Road to the Suffolk County border.
  • Berry Hill Road in Oyster Bay from Ivy Street to Sandy Hollow Road.
  • Oyster Bay Cove Road in Oyster Bay from Cove Neck Road to Yellow Cote Road.
  • Woodbury Road in Plainview from South Oyster Bay Road to the Northern State Pakrway.

“I am pleased that I was able to secure funding for many projects that still need to be completed,” Jacobs said.“I will continue to emphasize the importance of projects such as these in making our community a desirable place to live.”
