Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) encourages women and men with cancer to pamper themselves at Hewlett House when they host Wig Day on Sunday, April 19, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event is free of charge.
Professional hair stylists and beauticians are volunteering their expertise in the selection of the perfect wig and hair style for any woman or man experiencing hair loss from cancer. Additionally, they are offering mini-facials.
“Hewlett House should be commended for their efforts to help those suffering from the aftermath of cancer treatments,” Legislator Jacobs said. “Getting fitted for a wig and enjoying a little pampering with a facial can make all the difference to people who are struggling physically. And offering all of this free of charge makes it a possibility for those who may not have even given buying a wig a second thought.”
Hewlett House and staff members of the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition (1 in 9) who volunteer their time at the cancer resource center receive support from the Nassau County Department of Health, hospitals and others. Hewlett House is located at 86 Rockaway Road in Hewlett. For more information, call (516) 374-3190.
