Legislator Jacobs Schedules Free Workshops on Assessment

Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) invites her constituents to join her for a “Free Workshop” on property tax assessment. Legislator Jacobs asks resident to attend the workshops and bring with them their Application for Correction of Property Tax Assessment (Grievance Application) as well as the Explanation of Your 2011-2012 Assessment Notice.

Legislator Jacobs has arranged for a representative from the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission to attend the workshops and explain how the Commission values a home based on its current fair market value. The representative will also provide useful information. There will be three workshops:

*Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Plainview Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Road in Plainview.

*Monday, February 1, from 10 a.m. until noon at the St. Edward the Confessor Church, 205 Jackson Avenue, Syosset. (PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A CORRECTED DATE)

*Thursday, February 4, from 10:45 a.m. until noon at the Doubleday-Babcock Senior Center, 45 East Main Street, Oyster Bay.
