Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) encourages residents to take advantage of rebates included in the Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) Efficiency Long Island program. Legislator Jacobs recently received a correspondence from Kevin Law, the President and CEO of LIPA, outlining the savings to share with residents.
“These rebates are a win-win scenario,” Legislator Jacobs said. “People will pay less on their energy bills, receive a rebate, and by making energy efficiency changes, will reduce our carbon footprint. I support LIPA’s efforts and hope residents will take advantage of these incentives. I commend Kevin Law on these programs that will help my constituents.”
• Until September 30, LIPA is offering electric customers who buy or replace their older single –speed pool pump with a two-speed pump a $75 rebate; a $200 rebate if they install a variable-speed pump. Two-speed and variable-speed pool pumps can cut pool-related energy costs by 30 percent or more in a given season.
• Residential customers will receive a rebate of $75 when they buy select standard size ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators (larger than 7.5 cubic feet) by September 30.
• A rebate of $100 will be offered to residents purchasing and installing a central air conditioning system prior to January 1.
• Purchasing a qualified ENERGY STAR dehumidifier from now until December 31 will include a $10 rebate. ENERGY STAR dehumidifiers remove the same amount of moisture from the air as a conventional model but use 10 to 20 percent less energy incurring a savings.
