Transplant Recipients Annual Liver Walk

Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs, (D-Woodbury) attended the TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization) annual Liver Walk on May 22nd at Eisenhower Park. Hundreds of people attended some walking as donors, some as recipients and other in memory of those who did not live long enough to receive a desperately needed liver. Jacobs’ family has personally been helped when a member received both a liver and a kidney through a donor. Jacobs said, “There is a sign posted in hospitals which reads, “Don’t take your organs to heaven, heaven knows they are needed here.” I urge people to read about organ donations and to realize that entire families are impacted when, in fact, a donation is made to save a life.”
