(Mineola, NY) Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell and other area officials including County Legislators Wayne Wink and Richard Nicolello. NY State Assemblyman Ed Ra, Town of North Hempstead Councilwoman Lee Seeman, Town of North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie Gross, Floral Park Mayor Thomas Tweedy, South Floral Park Mayor Geoffrey Prime and Garden City Mayor Donald Brudie participated in the festivities at the 17th Annual New Hyde Park Street Fair. The fair attracted many visitors and brought together the business community and village residents. Hundreds of New Hyde Park merchants were able to showcase their goods and services. The fair featured something for people of all ages including a popular auto show which had cars of different vintages as well as rides, games and a food court selling foods from local restaurants. In addition to all the festivities at the fair there was a ceremony to honor the New Hyde Park Little League Girls Majors Softball team. The team won the District 29, Section 5, New York State and Eastern Regional Championships and then advanced to play in the Little League World Series held in Portland, Oregon. They are the first team from Long Island to compete in the Little League Softball World Series since 1993 and the first girls team in NHPLL history to make it this far. What an amazing achievement!
