You can see Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell on Cablevision’s “Is the World Serious?” airing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 pm on Channel 18. Host Frank Naudus interviews Clerk O’Connell about several important County Clerk programs.
Did you know that the County Clerk’s Office records and secures Veterans Discharge Papers (DD-214) free of charge so that Veterans and their families may obtain a certified copy (legally equivalent to the original) of these vital records should the need arise? In addition to this important service, Clerk O’Connell advises Nassau Veterans of her new initiative to record Veterans Discharge Papers conveniently, quickly and close to their homes on site at Veterans group meetings.
Hear about the Nassau County Veterans Recognition Program, an initiative Clerk O’Connell launched to show appreciation to our Veterans for their sacrifices to preserve and protect our freedoms. This program offers Veterans who record their discharge papers (DD-214) with the Clerk’s Office discounts to participating businesses throughout the County.
Clerk O’Connell invites business owners in the County to sign on for the Veterans Recognition Program. It is a great way to support the local economy, promote our neighborhood businesses and safeguard the vital documents which are necessary to obtain important services, while showing our appreciation to our Veterans for their dedicated service to our country.
The show will also feature a discussion about mass mailing solicitations for costly deed retrieval services, some of which cost 1000% more than the Clerk’s Office fees. Ms. O’Connell counsels the public to disregard such offers, warns homeowners about other types of scams her office has seen, and discusses initiatives undertaken to assist and protect the public against such predatory schemes.
